Vitals
Full Name: Valerie
Gender: Female
Age: 3 years
Species: Red Fox
Appearance: She wears the characteristic markings of a black-phase red fox. Her main coat is night black with a back of silver-tipped guard hairs. Her cheeks and forehead are similarly speckled with silver, though she has a black mask that covers her neck and eyes, which hold a stare of a vivid yellow-green color. The plush tip of her tail is dipped in pure white, much like her toes of her forepaws. In terms of stature she is slim, but made of lean muscle. Her limbs are long and slender, and the curve of her back holds a very elegant stature. Signature of foxes she has a large, plush tail. Over all, Valerie is quite the looker, from her dainty paws to her tapering muzzle.
The Heart
Personality: For such a pretty face, Valerie is kind of an awful bitch. Okay well, not really. She's just particularly distrusting and skeptical and a little bit of a debbie downer. Her bright gaze tends to fall on the negative side of things. She's actually quite the worrier, which she tries to cover up with a fake layer of confidence. This inability often gives her somewhat a cocky attitude which is an absolute foil to the truth: she's horribly insecure. Without her sisters in her life Valerie is entirely unsure of how to forge her own identity. To those who get to know her, she will be kind-hearted and forgiving, but it's unsure if anyone will ever gain her full trust.
Virtues and Skills: Honest, free-spirited, outgoing, clever
Faults and Weaknesses: Awkward, temperamental, restless, insecure
The Bygones
Brief Bio: Valerie was born into a litter of vixens, much to her father's dismay. When they were of age they left their parents to pursue their own lives. Valerie left with her sisters Arabelle and Isa, while her remaining sister, Seraphine, chose her own way. Valerie, Arabelle and Isa came to Navaria as they neared their second birthdays. They made a home in the land and were entirely content until the illness began to spread. For a while they lived in denial that anything bad would happen to them, until Arabelle began to grow weaker and weaker and the illness took her like it took so many others. Chaos grew in what was once such a lovely place to live. Isa and Valerie fled around the same time as the others, but somewhere in the commotion they lost each other. Valerie spent a year searching for her missing sister, and finally returned to Navaria in hopes of finding her. Though she has not found her sister, she joined the Avantegarde clan and decided to try and live in Navaria once more.
Family Relations: Sisters Isa (missing) Seraphine (whereabouts unknown) and Arabelle (dead from illness)

The morning air was slightly chilly that day, the stillness of dawn broken by the chatter of birds. The clearing was surprisingly energized for the time of day, awake with the tussle of territorial squirrels, and silent, feeding hares. Unlike times when the sun was up, the woodland creatures were surprisingly at ease among each other, for they knew a fundamental truth: it was far too early for the predators to be awake. While the fox, wolf and bear had yet another hour to go before they would rouse and shake off the sleep, these small critters had been wandering about under the safety of the pre-dawn sky.
Yet they were oblivious that their time of safety was coming to an end. In their bliss, the creatures of the forest had failed to notice Ava as the female slipped through the forest toward the clearing, her dark coat blending in to the shadows. She'd been pleasantly surprised to find such a bounty of critters for her taking. It was by chance she had woken up so early that morning. The hunger in her stomach had been growing for days and sleep was difficult with such a pain; it had woken her up that morning. She reveled in her luck that hunger, in some off-handed way, had taken her to this buffet of a clearing.
The bounty was mostly young and plentiful, but Ava had found them all through the scent of one - a nervous hare chewing on the stalks of grass that had suffered some misfortune the day before. There was a wound in its hind leg, still reeking fresh of blood. The sweet scent had caught Ava from the moment she awoke, and now she was so close she could hardly stand it. Yet she still wasn't close enough, wasn't at the right angle to snap it up in her jaws and taste that seductive blood she'd been following. Her time was running low, now. The sun was rising. She would have to strike soon. Ava tilted her head slightly as though locking in on her target and the sun caught her eye, causing the iris to nearly glow a brilliant shade of gold. But the beautiful display of her eye color was not so impressive to the hare, who caught the flash of light and subsequently the wolf behind it. It bolted.
The ensuing seconds were chaos. The birds took from their perches in a frenzy of flapping wings. The squirrels squeaked and sprinted to the cleared branches. Hare after hare hopped through the grasses to escape into the dying shadows of the forest. Ava was nearly blinded by the commotion, but her instincts sprung her forward, jaws wide and heart pounding with adrenaline and anticipation.
The next moment was entirely still. The she-wolf had cleaned out the clearing. It took a second for Ava's vision to focus, to feel the warming sun on her back, and to taste the warm, red liquid dripping down her jaws.
The she-wolf came up from the ground, spine straight with pride, and took her prize back into the cover of the forest.
