Vitals
Full Name: Aurelius Venn
Gender: Male
Age: 2 1/2 Years
Species: Red Fox
Appearance: Aurelius does not bear the solid red coat like most of his kind. Instead he was born with a cross pelt, flanks, sides, throat, and ears bright, proud copper. This tips of his ears are the color of pitch, dark and slick as oil. Meanwhile his throat from from chin to check, then around his midsection and back are a softer gray, as if coal were rubbed across his pelt. Aurelius' eyes are dark amber, hidden behind his sooty mask.
The Heart
Personality: Aurelius is nothing short of his namesake. An emperor at heart, he lives up to the reputation of the "quick" fox as well. As clever as he is sly, he does not rely on brute strength to take him where he intends to go - and where he wants to go, he will go. Instead, his mind churns behind his quick, dark eyes. Aurelius, while proud and sometimes vain, knows he can climb mountains with his sly, flattering words, plain determination, and ambition. In short, he is determined to be nothing but an emperor.
Virtues and Skills: Clever, quick, agile
Faults and Weaknesses: Smaller than average build, overconfidence, arrogance
The Bygones
Brief Bio: Aurelius was the product of a hapless mating. His parents were a strange couple, his mother a sickly vixen abandoned by her skulk and made ill by the harsh season and remnants of plague. His father was a wanderer at heart, tied to no clan or family, holding his own territory at the edge of a lake. Both foxes came to rely on one another, and foolishly, they mated, and she bore her litter during the wrong season - winter.
Nature punished both parents and cubs for this mistake. Aurelius was the only cub born alive, and even then he was nearly too small to survive at the bottom of the frozen den. His mother died during the hard birth, and from then on, his father remained responsible for his only son. At first, the dog fox was disgusted by the runt, the barely-alive scrap of wet fur mewling pathetically. But there was such a brightness, a cleverness, in young Aurelius' eyes, that his father became charmed and raised him in the territory by the lake.
Later on, as a growing cub, Aurelius had grown into a fine, curious, hunter, small and young as he was. Fate has a heavy hand, however, and his father and only companion was killed by a wildcat, and Aurelius was injured, hind leg nearly snapped by the fangs of the feline. The territory then seemed barren to the young fox, and he ran, chased by terror and memories of days spent by the lake. As he was young then, his only memories of childhood are cold, a grizzled, gray-brown dog fox that stood over him, and the gnashing teeth and snarl of the cat.
Family Relations: Tiberius (Father, Deceased)
Shara (Mother, Deceased)

Copper turned to glinted gold beneath the weak rays of a sinking sun. Aurelius crooked his ears, turning his face from the fire blazing its last trail in the sky, leaving Earth in dusk. From his perch on the rock ledge, the handsome dogfox saw the sunlight reflection fade from the waters of the stream below, and he knew it was time to hunt. Swiftly, he bounded from the ledge, faltering only as he landed, sinking low on his haunches as his hind leg gave. Aurelius grunted at the dull pain, but radiated more furious emotions in his memory.
Shaking his head to clear these echoes from the past, he slipped to the streambank to gaze into the water. It was dark, but he could see the forms of silver fish darting beneath the surface. It was dark, dark enough that the light of his amber eyes was hidden and his copper fur no longer glinted where the fish could see their predator. Fishing was not the way of the ordinary fox, but it was the way of Aurelius, a way he had learned long ago, on the shore of a lake, beneath the watchful gaze of a grizzled old dog fox.
