.;octavia;.
vat is dis?" the words hummed out of the small white and brown figure, as her head slide to the side. a ribbon of water was rushing in front of her, with little ripples and dances of pebbles moving. water? was this really something she had been searching for. with precise steps that were held high in the air, octavia gracefully approached the flowing river. she licked her lips softly, careful not to dampen her nose or surrounding fur. having been traveling for hours upon end with no sign of water, this vixen was in luck. her eyes flittered back and forth and with a satisfied 'hurrumph' the lady settled down. crossing her paws, she glanced into the clear ripples of water, examining her new summer coat. all of her fluffy white coat had not shed, so she looked like a miss-match of breeds. this did not satisfy octavia in the slightest. summer. the one time of the year this lady hated. it made her look like a...a...ruffian! with a small growl under her breath, she flicked her ears. was that a small twig snap? no. octavia dipped her muzzle into the water, gurgling happily on the refreashing drink.
{I once again apologize for the shortness~}

A sigh was heaved from the speckled, pale white muzzle of the red fox, Dimitri. He moved quietly alone the river bank, the grass beneath his paws cool and moist from the winding blue water source that lay only a few feet from him. Approaching it, he could stare through the clear, cool water, and make out the multicolored stones resting at the bottom, smoothed from years of wear from the constantly flowing river. This was a peaceful place, and therefore one of his favorites to travel. The water was often calm, cool and refreshing, the air quiet, even if eerily so, and the willows that hung over the water, casting their reflections and their loose leaves into the water.
Turning his back on the stream, he approached one of the willows, a tall, twisted tree with bark showing the wear of, what, decades, if not centuries. It provided shade for the black and white fox, as despite the peace of the scenery, it was not free from the suffocating summer heat that plagued the land, with no sign of rain in sight, for through the swaying branches of his foliage hideaway, the sky was bright blue, with hardly a cloud in sight.
He turned his head, peering through the long tendrils of leaves at the structure in the distance he had visited, standing majestic and unforgiving to time, so unnatural, but made of nature themselves, the grand Ellesmeer Stones. His distant speculations of the stones, however, were cut short, as a flash of white stole his attentions. A petite white vixen, he discovered, her white marred by darker shades, much like his, but her size suggested an Arctic fox, and not a mutation like himself. For a long moment, he watched her, but her focus was fixated on the water. At a final second, he turned his gaze away, approaching the shadowy chuck of river he was sitting besides, finding no quarrel or need to bug the vixen- he didn't know her, and she seemed lost in her own thoughts and her own company. He felt it may be bad manners to approach her so suddenly- for what? He didn't know if she wished for some idle chat with him. Lowering himself to the cool grass, he heaved a sigh of peace, once again gazing off to the mysterious stones he wished to learn all the secrets of, even if there were none at all to be found.

.;octavia;. octavia was enjoying herself, the cool ripples playing with her tongue. she had blocked the outside world and replaced it with a high-pitched ringing sound. she did this to save this memory, a calm place with the sun shining in her fur. but then it was ruined. her ears were keen, an excellent sound picking device. she lashed her muzzle out of the water, spraying blue droplets all over her perfect fur. a hiss escaped her mouth, as her lips curled into a small snarl. who was that? why had they even dared to toil with her, and make her ruin her fur? gnashing her teeth together she drew herself up, radiating with anger. she wanted to tear the damn head off the intruder. but wait...what was it? all she had heard was some snaps of twigs and loud rustles. her lady paused, flicking her ears and training her eyes into the under growth. she found the source of her anger, a nestling fox.
octavia recoiled. what was that? it was...a...mix of things. it had the lush fur of her breed, but the weird structure of other -less graceful- breeds. she considered her options. if he was an angry monsieur then she would be in big trouble. she was not the fastest and was definitely not the strongest. but he might be a token into a place. a large fellow like himself. oui, that was it! taking a deep breath, the little white fox approached slowly, a soft smile growing on her faces. her hips swayed and her steps were slow, like a hunter. when she was about two tail-lengths from him, she gave a little giggle to show her presence. "bonjour. vat brings you 'ere?" she said softly, battering her eyelids.

His ears twitched at the sound of approach, but he didn't list his head until the gentle patter grew close and gentle giggle was given to alert him, although the red fox had been well aware, tracking the steps as they intensified. He turned, eyeing the mottled arctic fox up close, her graceful build, fluffy fur, and the way she batted her eyes in a flirting matter. None of it heavily affected the calm and collected Dimitri, and he viewed the vixen as yet another soul on the planet, whatever her intentions may be, they didn't seem aggressive nor hateful, so he offered her a calm, warm smile, his gentle brown eyes watching her curiously as he sat up.
"Zdravstvujtye, greetings." He purred dipping his head in a formal greeting.
He sat up politely, pulling his shoulders up and keeping his head high, although he sat a good few inches taller than the smaller female. She asked what he was doing here, and he glanced around before chuckling, a smooth, warm sound that came from deep in his broad chest.
"Well, I must say, I wasn't truly here for long. I came from the Ellesmeer Stones. I do find them fascinating."
He quickly returned his gaze to meet her eyes, and after a slight pause, he continued politely introducing himself. "Pardon me, my name is Dimitri. May I ask your name, madame?"

.;octavia;.
octavia watched his every move. the breath on his chest, the way he blinked, how long he took to register emotions. he was rather...slow. not as in mentally, in personality. calm, collective. one who would trust any that supplied him with kindness, she supposed. running her tongue along her mouth, she continued to smile. the shaded fox tried to radiate kindess, her thoughts ever in happy light tones. she a very soft sigh, she ploped down next to him, decided he was safe."Zdravstvujtye, greetings." his words were formal and straight, a deep tone with a tender caress to it. his head was dipped, which she returned with a hearty giggle. he pulled up to a sitting position and her brain was already reeling. he was larger than her, by far. ah, that was good. her tail twitched. what.was.that. she turned her head slightly, twitching her eye. a leaf had fallen on it and was just sitting there, daring her. in a small spazm of her limbs, the leaf was off floating in the air. a small spasm of limbs that probably made her look like a fool! she went red under her fur and giggled highly, playing her character to a tee. a silly girl, with fluttering eyes and a high voice. she was thinking hard, when his other words had drifted into one ear and out the other. he was telling her what he was doing. ellesemer Hones? ellesamar Sones? it was something like that at least. she traced his gaze softly, tilting her head. his laugh was very warm, a soft honey coated tone. she had no clue why, but right now she needed to take in the details. her first new fox to meet, she needed to know. for all she knew, he might be the king of all! dimitri wasn't the most masculine of names, was it now? no, it wasn't. she had better start playing her cards now. "oh! my name's octavia! ah vimitri, dat's a nice name!" she said giddily, tossing her tail to and fro. "i vasn't 'ere for long either, ah only 'bout... vife minutes? 'dese rocks, vere are they? is dat 'dem in de distance?" she asked, standing up and practically bouncing on the spot. her nose was titled in the direction of the stones, bobbing up and down with her body. "vat language is dat, monsieur?"

He glanced away from Octavia as the vixen turned to fixate her gaze on the stones he spoke of. He sat back on his haunches, lost in his thoughts, a serious look on his face. From a past of violence, Dimitri's craving for knowledge would have been frowned upon by his father, even punishable. Now a grown dog, on his own, he still found himself at a distance, reluctant to approach and give away his burning curiosity- something he needed, and wanted to overcome.
His attention was snapped back as, bouncing on the spot, Octavia was suddenly speaking in quick, excited tones again, asking of the stones. The seriousness left his face, once again becoming calm and welcoming, looking down at the small puff of mottled fur.
"Ah yes, those are the ones. No one is quite sure how they got there, or what they are for- in fact, for all we know, they are purely natural, or powerful. There is no real knowledge behind them."
He gave a frustrated sigh at the admittance of such, that as much as he studied them, there was no fact, only theory and speculation. The little Arctic vixen was speaking again, and he glanced at her with another deep chuckle.
"Full of energy, aren't you? Ah, Ellesmeer... I'd assume English? I don't know. No one does aside from who named them I suppose."

this fox was serious. he always seemed to be deep in thought, not one happy thought seemed to drift through his glaze. we he turned to speak, he had a smile, but it was just a warm soft one. nothing to behold. octavia guessed he was a thoughtful boy, judging everything before he even thought them. with words calm and collective, he seemed older than his age. a wise old fox, like in the stories. "Ah yes, those are the ones. No one is quite sure how they got there, or what they are for- in fact, for all we know, they are purely natural, or powerful. There is no real knowledge behind them."
octavia tilted her head, licking her lips slowly. she could play that. he seemed to be in love with those stones. he sighed with a concerned look on his face, as if he craved to know just about anything. through out her examining, she kept her bounce and smile up, beaming a toothy smile at the faded large boy. giggling she spun around, pondering how to learn more about the story fox.
his words were deep by the time she had figured what she was going to do. full of energy? indeed she was. well for this play she was. so, the words were english. they seemed latin or such to her. who named them? humans, she figured. change of plan. keep him talking, instead of messing in the river like she had considered."da, englesh. i zought maybe, latin? so 'ho named zem? maybe.....humanz? or old anceztors?"
